The Economy

The free market system in which private enterprise exists that is open and competitive provides the greatest opportunity and the highest standard of living for all. Free markets produce more economic growth, more jobs and higher standards of living.  Local government burdens the creation of jobs and business growth by excessive government regulation.

Gun Control

The Second Amendment of our Constitution gives citizens the right to keep and bear arms. Individuals have the right to do so to defend themselves.  I do not believe that we need more legislation but what is necessary is that we enforce the laws we have.  Gun control laws do not prevent criminals from obtaining guns.

Private Property

The battle over eminent domains place in our society has been raging since the Supreme Court's Kelo decision a Supreme Court decision in 2005 which was used to transfer the personal property of one individual to that of another private owner for the purposes economic development.  They ruled that it was constitutional under the fifth amendment to take land for the purposes of a comprehensive economic development plan which was to bring 3,196 jobs and $1.2 million per year in tax revenue.  The courts decision was 5-4 for the benefits of a community over that of a private land owner.

Many politicians see all of the property in the country as belonging to the government.  However land and property belongs to the individual.    The founders gave the right of the government to buy property through eminent domain for projects that were designed that the government needed to accomplish such as schools, military bases, roads, etc.

What these politicians fail to see is that the property belongs to the individual, the citizen of the United States. They see the property as falling under there power. And that is wrong.
